Scenario: The school is conducting a study on the colors of M&M’s. They want to know the most dominant (the most common) color of M&M. You and your partner are going to help figure out an answer to this problem using the scientific method.
Problem: which m and m has the most color.
Hypothesis: If I count the numbers of orange then i will get the most.
Materials: one fun sized pack of m and m's
Procedure: step 1: open pack (step2: pour mand m's on a surface (step 3: count yellow (step 4: count brown (step 5: count blue (step 6: count green (step 7: count red (step 8: count orange ( step 9: write numbers of colors down
Results: orange had the most. Conclusion:my hypothosis was correct. I stated that Orange was the most out of all. My results showed that i was right which approved my hypothisis.

The problem was written in the form of a perfectly stated question that contained essential information.
The problem was written as an effective question that contained important information.
The problem was not stated as a question or was poorly stated because it was written with unimportant information.

The student made an educated guess, completely supported by his/her research. The independent and dependent variables are obvious in the If..Then statement.
The student made an educated guess based more on experience than research. The independent and dependent variables are identifiable in the If...Then statement.
The students made a random guess. The independent and dependent variables are unclear and part of the If....then statement may be missing.
There was no guess.
The student submitted a complete list of all materials used and included size, as well as quantity.
The student submitted a list, but may have missed an item. Size and quantity were included.
The student submitted a partial list. Size or quatity were included.
No list of materials.
All steps were record in an organzed and systematic fashion. The steps are clearly stated and easy to follow.
A step may have been left out of the process. The stated steps were easy to follow and the flow of the experiement was not disrupted.
A couple of steps were left out of the experiment. The missing steps disrupted the flow and could have an impact on the results.
The steps are too unorganized/unclear to follow.
The graphic representation uses corresponding/purposeful colors, make reading and undersanding the results a breeze. The x and y axis and title are perfectly labeled and clearly.
The graphic representation uses color. the results are easy to understand. All axis and title labeled correctly.
The graphic representation is made up of random colors. Missing or mislabled axis/title.
No graphic representation or input of data was completely wrong.
An accurate comparison between the hypothesis and results, data was used to support the conculsion through effective and meaningful calculations.
A comparison between the hypothesis and results was made and general data was used to support the conclusion. A more meaningful mathematical approach is necessary.
A weak conclusion is made by not confirming the hypothesis and/or using data for support.
No conclusion stated or too little information to be considered a conclusion
